Centering Women
and Girls of Color

We envision a world where women and girls of color can live free from violence—and where they have the economic resources they need to achieve their dreams.

To promote women’s power and influence, we support the movements to end violence and advance economic justice. We center women and girls of color in this work because we know that those closest to the issues must also be closest to the solutions.

Solutions We Support

We support people and organizations working to remove the biggest barriers facing women and girls of color today: violence and economic inequity.

Telling More Inclusive Stories

The voices of women and girls of color are often excluded from mainstream narratives. As a result, the stories most people see and hear tend to be biased, inaccurate, or incomplete. We’re helping build a public narrative that uplifts and celebrates the contributions of women and girls of color.

We back organizations that are amplifying the voices of women and girls of color and elevating the issues they care about—especially racial, sexual, and gender-based violence and economic inequity. Our partners work with the media and entertainment industry to promote stories that are more complete, more inclusive, and more likely to lead to change in communities.

Supporting Movement Leaders

The success of a movement hinges on its leadership, but many movement leaders—especially women of color—face severe resource constraints, stress and burnout, and threats of violence. We want to help leaders feel safe and supported so they can focus on their heroic work.

We support organizations that prioritize the wellbeing and leadership development of the people spearheading social change. Our partners provide trainings, convenings, and targeted funding so leaders have the community, resources, and skills they need to achieve their goals.

Backing Grassroots Organizations

Grassroots organizations are the heart and soul of effective movements. They're building the power needed to address violence and economic injustice, but they are consistently underfunded. We work to connect them to funding and networks that help maximize their impact.

We fund organizations that make it easier for those on the frontlines to get the resources they need to carry out their work. We also bring together organizations that have shared goals, fostering collaboration that strengthens the movements to end violence and advance economic justice.

Building Longevity for Movements

To be sustainable over the long term, movements need diverse funding options in addition to government and philanthropic grants. There is room to experiment with innovative business models to support the movements to end violence and advance economic justice.

We are supporting initiatives to identify promising new revenue strategies so grassroots organizations can generate the resources they need to function smoothly and build strong movements.
